Mel is a long-time local with a passion for premium property.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the NZSIR team?
The team is very driven and focused, yet they are all incredibly supportive and caring. They always take time to help and share their thoughts and ideas.

Can you give us an insight into the Southern Lakes’ property market?
Queenstown, Arrowtown and Wanaka have seen a dramatic rise in property values. Prices are strong and supply is low which is putting pressure on demand. We are seeing more unconditional buyers in the market and a rise in multi-off ers.

Tell us about your background before joining NZSIR
I’ve always been passionate about sales and marketing and moved to Queenstown 26 years ago to follow this path. Life took a slightly diff erent turn when I met Michael Hill - he encouraged me to join his company and the world of retail. I managed his Michael Hill Jeweller store in Queenstown for just under 10 years and gained a wealth of sales and human resource skills. My husband Peter and I are also part of a family building company, RBJ Limited.

How do you like to spend your leisure time?
Having two teenage children that row for the Wakatipu Rowing Club keeps me busy, so when they are rowing I love to take my dog for a walk around Lake Hayes. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, keeping fi t and healthy and embracing the outdoors.

If you could invite any three people to dinner, who would they be?
Roger Federer, Billy Connolly and Richard Branson.
