Some finer details are still being confirmed including land size limits, property types and consent requirements. Our team is closely monitoring developments so you’re ready as soon as the final rules are in place.

How to buy a home in New Zealand

  1. Check eligibility - Australians and Singaporeans can buy freely; others may qualify through the Active Investor Plus Visa.
  2. Understand property rules - under soon-to-be enacted legislation, eligible buyers can purchase or build one home at NZ $5 million+. Consent under the Overseas Investment Act may still be required.
  3. Engage local expertise - partner with New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty for on-the-ground guidance, legal introductions and access to premium listings.
  4. Make your offer - once consent is confirmed, our team will help you find the perfect home, negotiate on your behalf, and guide you through the purchase and settlement process.

A glimpse of the New Zealand lifestyle

Set on one of the most elevated and private sites in Dalefield’s Wakatipu Basin, this 3.45 ha estate captures the dramatic alpine views that the Southern Alps are world famous for. Crafted from schist, cedar and Corten steel, the 380 sq m pavilion-style residence is a masterpiece of design, connecting light-filled living spaces seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
