Working in partnership for nearly 10 years, lifestyle property experts Matt Finnigan and Russell Reddell, Sales Associates, have negotiated some of the largest property transactions in the South Island.

How long have you known each other?
M: 26 years – we met through the NZ snowboard scene in the very early 1990s.

You specialise in high country stations and exceptional lifestyle properties. What are each other’s strengths in buying and selling this type of property?
M: I’m the details guy and focus on the analysis, marketing approach and sales strategy.
R: I’m a people-orientated person focused on relationships and the negotiation process.

Can you give us an insight into the current Southern Lakes premium property market?
M: The premium market is strong and values have not slipped. The market stats are there to prove it but it’s important to know that as prices increase, the volume of buyers diminishes. Property in general is taking longer to sell. This is often the case in Queenstown where buyers of premium property are typically from out of town.
R: In the past 12 months we have seen properties
of calibre and price not seen before coming to the market. It is testament to the growth of sophistication and wealth making its way into the region as well as the confidence to capitalise in this manner.

How will you be spending winter in the Southern Lakes?
M: It’s always a combination of snowboarding, split boarding, hunting and mountain biking – I like to mix it up!
R: Skiing, snowboarding and the occasional winter surf on the south coast.
