Hello, I'm Mark Harris. Welcome to Perspectives.

The June REINZ sales figures are out, and despite ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainty, New Zealand's property market remains remarkably steady. Sales volumes eased slightly, but prices are holding, days on market have barely moved, and buyer demand continues for quality homes. Overall, it's a market that's proving resilient.

What's particularly interesting is how differently regional markets are performing around the country. Northland, Waikato, Tasman and Canterbury all recorded notable price growth, while Northland and Waikato achieved their highest number of sales since 2021.

Perspectives Jul2026 04

Our latest New Zealand Property Pulse report draws directly from our nationwide network of real estate specialists, giving us a real-time view of what's happening on the ground with buyers and sellers across the country.

One of the strongest themes emerging from the report is the ongoing demand for lifestyle property. Interest is growing across almost every buyer group, from families and upsizers through to downsizers and retirees.

We're also seeing renewed interest from New Zealanders returning home, with more than half of our agents reporting an increase in enquiry from expat buyers.

That confidence extends to the luxury market as well. Year to date, our sales above $5 million are up by more than a third in volume compared to the same time last year, and we've represented seven of New Zealand's ten highest-value residential sales so far in 2026 (based on reported residential sales data and NZSIR internal records).

Among them are the remarkable Twin Paritai Drive sales by our Remuera team, the landmark estate at 259 St Heliers Bay Road in Auckland, and the sale of 64 Hunter Road in Speargrass Flat, Queenstown.

And speaking of exceptional property, here are three homes that showcase luxury living in very different ways.

Before I go, now is also a great time to discover what your home could be worth. Our Escape in Luxury competition is currently underway, with this year's prize an unforgettable luxury escape for two to the 2027 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
