Fashion house Versace’s logo is the Gorgon from Greek mythology, chosen because she was a woman of such beguiling beauty that she captivated everyone around her (just like great fashion). The logo has made its way from garments to homewares, most recently featuring on Versace’s Medusa Madness Vase. This piece is as opulent as one would expect from the brand. For something moodier, the Medusa Grande Glass Vase in black brings a bit more Gothic glamour. Versace Medusa Madness Vase 18cm, $899, and Medusa Grande Glass Vase in black $2199, from Matisse.
A stripe is one of my favourite patterns – it can be classic or contemporary in design, and plays clever visual tricks in a room, making it wider or taller. Elson Decorative Stripes by fabric house Romo brings a graphic element to a room with different widths and colourways to feature on upholstered items.
Fabrics POA, available via Seneca.
Traditional Berber rugs are handmade by craftspeople in Northern African tribes. They put their time, heart and soul into weavings decorated with meaningful symbols, made from textural natural wool. The Sahara modern carpet by Cassina is a contemporary reinterpretation of these very rugs, made by nomadic desert tribes. Cassina Sahara Grid rug, from $7830, from Matisse.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Gregor Kregar’s space; a whimsical workshop filled with imaginative inventions that have you smiling and staring in wonder. Kregar’s new piece Fractured Geometry features his trademark faceted surfaces that distort and duplicate the world around them. Fractured Geometry 2025, by Gregor Kregar, $35,000, from Gow Langsford Gallery.
When seeing the new-season wallpaper releases, I was struck by how wall coverings have become art in their own right. A few of my favourites from Phillip Jeffries are Peaceful Plumes; a paper that reimagines herringbone with a soft, suede-like touch; Vista, a delicately illustrated mural wallcovering that feels like a page from a storybook; and Wild Thing that channels classic animal print. Phillip Jeffries wallpapers, POA, available from The Textile Company.
New Zealand furniture makers Woodwrights have released a stunning new swivel chair; the Arc is a sculptural design that hugs you gently without the bulk of many larger styles. The modernist form is softened with textural fabrics and is quite at home in a bedroom corner, living room or office. Arc Swivel Chair, designed with Scott Fitzsimons, from Woodwrights, from $3247.
A rich, deep red, Marmion is a fusion of violet, Bordeaux, and red pigments. This sophisticated paint colour brings depth and gravitas to any interior it touches. Ideal for formal dining rooms, library walls, or intimate lounges, it pairs effortlessly with dark timbers, brushed gold, and moody lighting, creating spaces that invite conversation and add to the atmosphere on a cold winter night. Aalto Marmion paint, POA, from Aalto.
