Estuary

Ahuriri Estuary Walkway – 3.5km (Short trail)

If you’re looking for a short, easy, flat trail then Ahuiri Estuary Walk is an ideal option. Take in the scenic views and diverse wildlife (home to over 70 species of resident and migratory birdlife) as you coast along the boardwalk which loops around the estuary.

This track is suitable for all levels and is also pushchair & wheelchair friendly.  Start from the car park at the end of Humber Street, Napier.

Puketapu Loop – 18km  (mid-length trail)

A scenic trail that gently follows the banks of the pretty Tutaekuri River. Mostly flat in gradient this is a great trail for those looking for a mid-length run.

Start from Taradale and follow the path up towards Puketapu village where you will find a charming country pub and a dairy next door serving ice cream – perfect for a mid-way pit stop! Head back to Taradale along the opposite side of the River.

Havelock North to Clive – 18.5km one-way or 37km return (mid-length or long trail)

A popular trail which can be run in either direction or as a round trip.

Set off from Havelock North and cruise along the Tukituki River, passed the Waitangi Regional Park wetlands before following the Clive River into the vibrant township of Clive.

Nearby Te Mata Peak delivers panoramic views of the region while Havelock North and Clive provide a variety of fantastic options for shopping and cafes to explore after your run.
