Tom Rutherford brings a wealth of real estate and business experience to his role as Sales Manager with New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Taupō, supported by family connections to the property industry spanning more than 40 years. Throughout his real estate career, Tom has worked across residential, rural, commercial and property management, giving him a broad understanding of the industry and the people within it. His experience also includes three years as National Manager of Rural and Lifestyle for a New Zealand real estate company. Prior to establishing his career in real estate, Tom owned and operated one of New Zealand’s largest wire and tube manufacturing companies for six years. His varied professional background has also taken him around the world aboard superyachts and, during the late 1990s, saw him serve as Production Manager for renowned New Zealand inflatable boat manufacturer, Naiad. Boating has long been part of Tom’s family heritage. Following three generations before him, he served with Coastguard, achieving a senior skipper qualification and taking on the responsibility of Training Officer. With a lifelong affinity for the water, Tom is particularly drawn to the lifestyle offered by Taupō and its iconic lake. Tom brings this depth of leadership, commercial experience and practical knowledge to New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Taupō. With a genuine passion for the industry, he is committed to supporting his team with considered guidance, sound advice and a collaborative approach.
