When Strachan Group Architects designed this award-winning Waiheke Island retreat, the brief was to ensure it was a deeply restorative, joyful and nurturing space.
The striking architecture of the home blends seamlessly with the restrained, yet rich-toned natural material palette that is featured both outside and in. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the exceptional property can serve as a full-time family home or a secluded weekend hideaway just a short ferry ride from Auckland’s CBD.
Nature is a key component of 209 Delamore Drive, from the heated infinity pool that visually expands to the Pacific Ocean to the luscious plant life enclosed in the 1.53 ha property. The indoor spa is reminiscent of a Japanese onsen pool, while the gardens are decorated with sculptures commissioned from pre-eminent NZ carvers.
With an abundance of native birdsong and direct access to Cable Bay and the Te Ara Hura walking track that circumnavigates Waiheke Island, the property is subtropical living at its finest.
