The Dunes Golf Resort, one of New Zealand's most picturesque coastal golf courses, is without doubt the jewel of the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula.
Originally designed by New Zealand golfing legend Sir Bob Charles, The Dunes has been a must-play course on the serious golfers' itinerary for almost three decades. It started with a 9-hole course then further expanded to full 18-hole championship status 15 years ago and two years ago hosted an NZPGA pro-am event.
Bordering the tranquil Whangapoua Harbour and a beautiful 4 km sandy Matarangi beach, the course is set in glorious surroundings, with sea and harbour views from most holes and the Coromandel Range and Castle Rock forming a spectacular backdrop.
The resort consists of a sand-based par 72 course, a clubhouse with Pro Shop and conference room, fully licensed restaurant and bar plus adjoining development land suitable for residential or commercial accommodation.
The bar and restaurant provides casual dining experience for golfers as well as a popular destination for Matarangi residents and holiday makers.
Nine premium self-contained villas overlooking the lake and golf course are fully equipped. The villas are either two or three bedroom designs, average 120 sq m fitted out to a high standard. Apart from the nine existing villas, there are additional 20 villa sites for future developments.
The Dunes is ideal for golfers, holiday makers, corporate offsite meetings/conferences and weddings. The restaurant and bar area can comfortably seat up to 170 guests for corporate functions and weddings. The function room can accommodate corporate meetings and conferences for up to 40 people.
